At the beginning I would like to say how hard is to find some positive news in nowadays media. But thanks to TVN I've found out, that today(23th of April) is an opening of herding seasons and I would like to write a little bit about this custom.
In a Modern World more and more traditional professions disappear, One of them is herding. Being a shepard is an occupation which has always been connected with the culture of south regions of Poland. Fortunately there are still people who cultivate the tradition of this region. One of them is Mr Tadeusz. This shepard and his son have just started their 5-day journey from Zakopane to pastures at Hala Rycerzowa where they are going to spend six months taking care of hundreds of sheeps. Shepherds find their job very absorbing, but they can't imagine other life or other profession. Thanks to people like them we can still taste the real "oscypek" produced from sheep's milk or use products made from real, natural wool. Mr Tadeusz is going to hand over the tradition of herding to his son, thanks to this we can be sure, that unless for one more generation we can enjoy the atmosphere of real polish mountains.
